Use some of the links at left to explore Tarot decks and discover which ones appeal to you.  (Remember, when you purchase a deck, be sure to save your box. It increase the collectability.) I have written information about how to "season" and store your deck here.

My first Tarot cards I bought at a costume shop when I was 18.  It was a Tarot de Marseilles deck, and I approached that deck with eagerness and fear.  But when you get down to it, that was a lot the way I approached life at that point!  <grin>  I found that the cards told me stories, and that was alarming for me.  I put the deck away, I just wasn't ready for it.  To this day that deck seems harsh to me.

Fast forward about 12 years.  I had gained some maturity, a little bit of wisdom, and I was seeking.  That's when my current deck came into my life, a Universal Rider-Waite, a gift from my best friends.  Again the cards seemed to speak to me, but this time I wasn't afraid, I was ready, and embraced the stories.

There are a lot of reasons I love this deck.  At first it was for the artwork, the vibrant colors and scenes.  And this is still true, after all these years I still notice new details about my cards.  But it goes deeper than that.  This deck is "broken in".  It is soft from much handling, and it resonates with the energy from past readings, from much love.  It feels like it has a personality, it has become an old friend.

But this is not my only deck.  I have a treasured, signed Goddess Tarot deck which was a gift from its talented creater, Kris Walherr.  (Check out this deck and also her new sacred Animals site....)

I also have a mini-Rider Waite which I use for spell-making and visualization exercises.  My Druid Animal Oracle deck appealed to me because of the animal connection and the beautiful graphics.  And finally, I have a Psycards deck,  the symbolism and graceful images of these cards was very appealing.
