This
last weekend seemed to pass wayyy too quickly for me. I guess it wasn’t so much that the time moved fast, it was
more that I kept waiting for the fun to start, and instead there were
errands, and busywork, and bickering kiddies, and then the weekend was
over. Sigh.
Ever face a Monday morning feeling like that?
I decided to
cheer myself up. |
|
I took out my magic box, and looked over my treasures.
I have a box my husband built for me, and inside I have all my
keepsakes and talismans… All
my children’s baby teeth and locks of their soft first haircut hair.
I feel the softness, remembering
things I like about my kids,
and forgetting all the “he’s sitting on my spot on the
couch!” fights we had over the weekend.
I have a fake fingernail from a Halloween party long ago, and I
try it on, laughing when I remember sending one sailing in my
husband’s drink. Here’s
a silver whistle I got from my mom and Dad when I left home, and mama
told me “If you ever need us, just whistle.” I blow on it, and miss her.
By the time I
close up the box I feel strengthened, and heartened.
I’ve laughed, I’ve cried, and I’m ready to shake off the
weekend, and all that waiting for the fun to start.
I’m ready to make some of my own. |

Would you like your own Magic Box?

Save things that remind you of
people you love, talismans of moments worth savoring, of memories worth
remembering. I have perfect fall leaves, marbles and little rocks
given to me by my children- anything that you can use to stimulate
your memories, by sight, by touch, by smell...
Gather them all in the box of your
choice. The Enchanted World
of Boxes is a good place to shop for one. Or, if you're a
crafty person, you'll enjoy the links I've collected, below:

Give a Magic Box as a gift-
everyone needs a place to store their memories!
