Card 1- Refers to what's past, what's left behind by the passing phase.
Card 2- Looks at the lingering influences from the waxing or waning phase? 
Card 3- Examines what's coming up, what's in store with the moon changes, the next moon phase?  
Card 4- Expectations and  concerns that will come into play with the new phase.  
Card 5- The overall lesson to be learned, the theme for this phase of the moon.
